Terms & Conditions
Last updated: April 2026
These terms govern your use of Aanglr. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you don't, don't use Aanglr.
1. What Aanglr is
Aanglr is a community-driven atlas of fishing spots. Anglers add spots, photos, species, reviews, and comments so other anglers can find places to fish locally. The service is free and intended for personal, non-commercial use.
We do not sell fishing licenses, gear, trips, or permits. We do not represent any government authority.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Aanglr. If your jurisdiction sets a higher digital-consent age, that age applies. You are responsible for following local laws, fishing regulations, permit requirements, and landowner rules wherever you fish.
3. Your account
You are responsible for safeguarding your password, keeping your contact email up to date, and all activity on your account. If you suspect unauthorized access, reset your password and contact us immediately.
One person, one account. Impersonation, fake operator claims, or buying/selling accounts is prohibited.
4. Location precision is irreversible
When you add a spot, you choose a precision level (exact, approximate, or general area). Aanglr stores only a coarsened version of the coordinates that matches the precision you chose; the finer-grained position you dropped is not retained. Once saved, you cannot sharpen the precision of an existing spot — you can only widen it or delete and re-submit.
This protects sensitive locations and honours the "share what you're willing to share" principle. Pins are not suitable for navigation and should not be treated as authoritative positions.
5. Conservation & prohibited content
Don't post spots that are:
- active spawning grounds or nursery habitats;
- protected, restricted, military, or indigenous/customary areas where publication is unlawful or disrespectful;
- private property where you do not have the owner's permission to share the location;
- locations that would expose a protected or endangered species to poaching pressure.
Every submission requires you to confirm the spot is on publicly accessible water or that you have permission to share it. False confirmations lead to removal and account suspension.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, or dox other users;
- post unlawful, defamatory, sexually explicit, hateful, or fraudulent content;
- scrape, resell, or mass-export Aanglr data, or use automated means to access the service without permission;
- reverse-engineer location fuzzing, triangulate exact coordinates, or aggregate pins to reveal protected areas;
- submit fake reviews, upvote rings, or manipulate reputation;
- upload content infringing someone else's copyright, trademark, or privacy rights.
7. Photos and content licence
You retain ownership of what you post. By uploading, you grant Aanglr a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, display, resize, and distribute your content within the service and in search-engine previews. This licence lasts as long as the content is public on Aanglr.
Only upload photos you own or have clear rights to share. Don't upload images containing identifiable people without their consent.
8. Local-first rules
You can only add, edit, or claim spots in your registered home country. Your country can be changed at most once every 30 days and every change is audited. This is a conservation guard-rail: local knowledge belongs to people who actually fish the water.
9. Operator claims
Operators of pay-to-fish venues, private ponds, and permitted fisheries may claim their listing. Claims are reviewed by moderators; approval grants a verified badge and limited edit access to factual fields. Claims are revoked for misrepresentation or abusive edits.
Public-water spots and permit-required spots are not claimable. Operator status is not a paid placement or endorsement.
10. Moderation, reports, and enforcement
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend accounts that violate these terms, laws, or community guidelines — generally with notice, always when safety requires. Users can report content via the report button on spots, reviews, and comments. Repeated or egregious violations result in permanent removal.
11. Privacy & data
Aanglr stores the minimum needed to run the service:
- Account — email, password (stored securely in hashed form), username, display name, optional bio, country, avatar.
- Contributions — spots (with fuzzed coordinates only), photos, reviews, comments, ratings, upvotes, reports.
- Operational — authentication sessions, rate-limit counters, aggregate traffic analytics, error diagnostics, and a cache of place-name search results.
We do not sell personal data and do not run ad-network trackers. Aanglr is delivered through standard cloud infrastructure and mapping providers; each processes data under their own terms. We share data with these providers only as needed to operate the service.
You can request export, correction, or deletion of your personal data by writing to us via the Contact page. We respond within a reasonable period consistent with applicable privacy law.
11a. What to share on Aanglr
Never post information you consider sensitive. This includes home addresses, phone numbers, government IDs, full birthdates, financial details, license plates, other people's personal data, or anything you are not willing to make permanently public. Public spots, photos, reviews, and comments are visible to the world and may appear in search-engine results.
12. Account deletion & content survival
You can delete your account at any time from Account settings. Profile data is removed. Your community contributions — spots, reviews, comments — remain visible, attributed to a deleted user, so the atlas others built with you stays intact. If you need a specific contribution removed for privacy or safety reasons, contact us before deleting.
13. Security
We follow industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit, secure password storage, access controls on your data, and rate limiting on sensitive actions. No online service is perfectly secure. If you discover a vulnerability, please report it via Contact and give us a reasonable window to fix it before any public disclosure.
14. Third-party content & links
The service may link to third-party websites (operator pages, regulation PDFs, geocoder results). We do not endorse or accept responsibility for third-party content.
15. Disclaimer & limitation of liability
Aanglr is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that spots are legal to fish, safe to access, productive, or accurately described. Fishing is inherently risky — you are responsible for your own safety, gear, permits, and conduct.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aanglr and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, loss of catch, lost profits, regulatory penalties, property damage, or personal injury arising from use of the service.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Aanglr harmless from claims arising out of your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms or applicable law.
17. Changes to the service and these terms
We may update features, pricing (if ever introduced), and these terms. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
18. Governing law & disputes
Aanglr is operated from the Philippines but is available to users worldwide. Nothing in these terms removes mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of the country where you reside.
Where permitted, disputes arising from these terms will be resolved first through good-faith discussion. If unresolved, they may be brought in the competent courts of either (a) the Philippines, or (b) the country where you reside — whichever applicable law requires. Each party bears its own costs unless a court orders otherwise.
